11-1-24 Incident at Fordson High School

Dear Parents and Staff,

I am reaching out to address an incident that took place during a recent football game. Prior to the end of the game, it was agreed upon by the coaches of both teams that at the conclusion of the game the teams would forgo lining up for handshakes and leave the field. Unfortunately that did not occur and a fight broke out between Fordson High School and Dearborn High School football players.

The Dearborn Police were present to deescalate the situation immediately with the help of both FHS and DHS coaches and administration. Thankfully, there were no major injuries reported.

We are actively reviewing video footage of the game and reviewing the events with coaches, referees, players, parents and school administrators. Appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken to ensure all parties understand the seriousness of their actions. In addition, we will work closely with our teams to reinforce the importance of emotional control and positive conduct both on and off the field.

Our primary goal is to foster a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. We understand that emotions can run high during competition. However, physical confrontations and un-sportsmanship behaviors go against the core values that we teach and uphold.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we address this matter. Our focus remains on creating a safe and respectful atmosphere where all students can thrive and develop both as athletes and individuals. Also, win or lose , teams should always demonstrate positive sportsmanship and respect. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me directly.

Thank you for your continued support of our school community and athletic program.

Sincerely,

Chadi Farhat
