Do you want a voice in what books are included in the school library? The district is looking for a few more student volunteers to serve on Book Reconsideration Committees. Each committee will include parents or community members, staff members and a student. The committee will meet twice to review a book that district media specialists have determined is appropriate for a school library (elementary, middle or high school, depending on the book), but that a parent or other stakeholder would still like removed from all district libraries. The committee’s decision will decide if the book stays. Each book will have its own committee.
If you are interested in participating, please complete the Book Reconsideration Committee volunteer form. The district currently needs at least one more student available for two evening Zoom meetings in June. Class of 2023 students can apply for the committee.
