SAT word of the day: – Resolution– “rez-o-loo-shun”: Definition: A promise to yourself to do or to not do something. The sample sentence is: My new year’s resolution was to earn a 4.0 on my report cards for this school year.

Today is the last day for the Battle of Hunger! Turn in any cans and/or donations you may have.

Seniors: Today is the last day to turn in your headshot. Please do not forget, otherwise your ID picture will go into the yearbook. Turn in your CDs to Mrs. Kubitz in C203 or have your photographers submit your photo via dropbox. Either way please sign off by today with Mrs. Kubitz in C203. This is a firm deadline, no exceptions.

If you’re interested in trying out for boys swimming, please attend today’s meeting which will be held by the big gym at 2:30.

Buy your Thanksgiving candy grams for $2 during lunch, from a 2018 representative, or go to Ms. Saab and Ms. Ganfi in B202

Yearbooks are still on sale. They are now $75; don’t miss out on your memories! Get yours before the price goes up to $80.

The community will come together tomorrow to support our own in need. We will be preparing food boxes and delivering them to the less fortunate in our community. If you would like to volunteer please see Mrs. Allie in A208.

Bake sale at the tractor before and after school on Monday November 20th

Challenge Bowl will be having a Breakfast sale on Tuesday November 21st in the morning! Come hungry. All money raised will go to competing!

The annual Fordson Friendsgiving Dinner will take place Tuesday November 21st at 6:30 at Habib’s. It is open to all staff and students. Tickets are $30 but 100% of all profits will be donated to Zaman International Sips of Hope Well Campaign. Please see a board member of the pay it forwards club or Ms. Reda in room A128 to purchase tickets. Seats are limited and tickets are selling fast so buy yours ASAP. Last day to purchase tickets is Sunday, November 19th.

The next Pay it Forward meeting will be on Monday November 20th in Ms. Reda’s Room in A128 at 2:25. We will be doing stations of activities for thanksgiving and we need all the help we can get. Please attend!

Seniors must turn in senior shirt orders to Ms. Saab and Ms. Ganfi in B202 by Monday November 27th.

The Pay It Forward Club wants to invite you to join in our November Thankful Challenge. NMA Speech contest for all high school students. Students present an original 4 to 6 minute speech on the topic of Leadership.  Top three local competitors receive awards of $500, $250 and $100.  Local winner goes on to a Regional contest with prizes of $1000 and $500.  National winner receives $4,000.  The application deadline is 12/15/17.  All information and forms on: www.NMAChapter141SpeechContest.com

$2,500 Scholarship Award is still available for eligible students and parents through December 31, 2017. Students and parents can enter by signing up to receive tips and resources on CollegeCovered.com. No purchase or loan necessary to enter or win.

The American Legion, Dept of MI Wilson Scholarship & Dept of MI Brewer Scholarship available to residents attending high school and are a son, daughter, grandchild or great-grandchild of a war-time veteran planning to attend any Michigan accredited college or university. Based on student’s GPA of 2.5 or higher, financial need, parent’s or grandparent’s honorable active war-time military service, goals and intentions.  Forms available in counselors office. Deadline is January 8, 2018. Award is $500.

NALS of Michigan Scholarship is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a qualified applicant. Deadline is January 15, 2018. Application, rules and regulations available in the counseling office.

U of M Club of Greater Detroit Scholarship has 12 unique scholarship opportunities worth $3,500 each for incoming Freshman Fall 2018. Applications are accepted online.  Visit www.umclubgreaterdetroit.org for online application and scholarship info. Deadline is Friday, January 19, 2018 @ 5:00 pm.

Michigan Rural Water Association is sponsoring a video contest. The contest is open to grades 9-12, individually or as a group of no more than 4, and a teacher representing a specific department must sponsor entries.  Limit is 10 videos per school.  Application/info available is counseling office.  Video submission deadline is January 24, 18.

National Co-op Scholarship Program. Deadline is Feb. 15th, 2018

Making the turn against Parkinson’s $5,000 scholarship award. Deadline is March 1st, 2018.
